On February 18, Lisa M. Fotherby, Ph.D., P.E., of the U.S. Department of the Interior's Bureau of Reclamation was named the 2010 Federal Engineer of the Year at a ceremony at the National Press Club in Washington, DC.

Candidates are nominated by their employing federal agency. The Federal Engineer of the Year is selected by a panel of judges established by NSPE-PEG who consider engineering achievements, education, continuing education, professional/technical society activities, NSPE membership, awards and honors, and civic and humanitarian activities.
